Duncan Rintoul
Managing Director
Duncan is a mixed methodologist with 25+ years’ experience in social research and evaluation across a broad range of policy areas. He is a specialist in capacity building and has trained thousands of people in the fundamentals of evaluative practice. He is a former Director of the Australian Evaluation Society and an active contributor to the AES mentoring program, as well as a lay member of the UOW Human Research Ethics Committee for the social sciences. He lives and works on Dharawal land.

Claire Grealy
Director
Claire brings specialist expertise in health and human service strategy, design and governance. Originally trained in social work, she brings a practitioner lens as well as senior public sector experience and 20+ years’ consulting experience. Prior to joining Rooftop Social, Claire was a Director and partner at Urbis. She lives and works on Dja Dja Wurrung land.

Vanessa Hood
Director
With a dual background in facilitation and evaluation, Van loves using participatory processes to help people engage with evidence. Her consulting practice draws on rich experience from research and evaluation leadership roles in Victorian Government (e.g. at Sustainability Victoria) and in the community sector (e.g. with Financial Counselling Australia). She lives and works on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung land.

Kate Miller
Senior Consultant
Kate is an experienced social researcher, evaluator and policy analyst with a qualifications in economics and development. She brings experience from prior roles at the NSW Department of Education, the Institute of Public Policy and Governance (UTS), the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation. She lives and works on Gadigal land.

Jessica Carroll Smith
Consultant
Jess brings specialist expertise in project management and not-for-profit project scoping, business development and fundraising. She started out in social research consultancy back in early 2000s, then then switched across into organisational management and leadership work in churches, para church organisations and social change organisations – overseeing projects, managing budgets, coordinating teams, synthesising data and turning ideas into action. She lives and works on Gadigal land.
